Reading program to begin next week
The Jamestown Philomenian Library will participate in a statewide summer reading program, which begins on June 22.
Participants are asked to create a reading contract with their parent or guardian and Lisa Sheley, Jamestown’s children’s librarian. The reading contract should state that children will read or be read a certain number of books or minutes per week between June 22 and Aug. 15. At registration, participants will receive a reading passport to record their progress. Passports should be returned to the library by Aug. 15 in order to receive acknowledgement of program completion.
Each book read means more reading incentives, such as passes to area amusements, museums and parks. Participants who reach all of their weekly goals by the deadline are invited to a “Create Your Own Sundae Party” at the library on Thursday, Aug. 18 at 7 p.m.
For more information, call Sheley at 423-7280.
