Local soil scientist to speak at JSA meeting

The Jamestown Shores Association will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, June 22, at 7 p.m. at Conanicut Grange Hall on West Street. Jim Turenne, an islander and certified professional soil scientist for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, will be the guest speaker.

Turenne will discuss soil in Jamestown, including what soil is best for gardens and how different types of soil can affect how a resident’s well is recharged. There will also be a question-and-answer session.
