Auditions for ‘Wizard of Oz’ set for next week
Auditions for the Jamestown Community Theatre’s production “The Wizard of Oz” will begin on Wednesday, July 6, from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. at the Jamestown Golf Course. The play will be held in November and rehearsals will begin after Labor Day.
Those auditioning for Dorothy should be between 9 and 12 years old and will have to sing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” For those trying out for the Scarecrow, Tin Man or Lion, be prepared to sing “If I Only had a Brain”; for the role of Glinda the Good Witch, “Munchkinland.”
Auditions for the Wicked Witch of the West and the Wizard will also be held, but no singing is required.
If anyone interested in playing one of the main characters can’t make the July 6 audition, call Mary Wright at 741-9818. Production crew, staff and interns are also needed. There will also be tryouts held for dogs to play the role of Toto. If anyone has a small dog that would like to try out for the part, e-mail Wright by Sunday, July 10, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Audition forms and membership applications are available on the chorus’ page of the town website.
For more information, call or e-mail Wright.
