First offense DUI - refusal to take Breathalyzer

Cristine Sammarco, 46, of Hidden Lake Drive, Saunderstown, was charged July 2 with first offense DUI and refusal to submit to a Breathalyzer test after she was stopped for a traffic infraction, police said. Sammarco was held at the police station where she posted bail after being arraigned by a justice of the peace. A pre-trial hearing was scheduled for July 8 at Newport District Court, according to police.

Operating vehicle with a suspended license

Gina Winter, 51, of Barber’s Height Avenue, Saunderstown, was charged July 2 with driving with a suspended license after she was stopped for a traffic infraction and police called her license in for verification, police said. Winter was not held at the police station. An arraignment was scheduled for July 15 at Newport District Court, according to police.

Domestic vandalism and resisting arrest

David C, Harpool, 22, of Hamilton Avenue, was charged July 3 with domestic vandalism and resisting arrest after police responded to a call from the Hamilton Avenue address. Harpool had allegedly damaged a wall, broken a lamp and other household effects, police said. When police attempted to take Harpool into custody, he ran and a foot chase ensued, police said. He was apprehended at Sheffi eld Cove and taken to the police station where a justice of the peace scheduled an arraignment for July 8 at Newport District Court, according to police.

Domestic simple assault

Earl C. Hawkins, 20, of Post Road, North Kingstown, was charged July 3 with domestic violence after police responded to a 911 call from a woman who said she had been assaulted, police said. Hawkins was taken into custody and held at the police station where he was processed by a justice of the peace. An arraignment was scheduled for July 8 at Newpor t District Court, according to police.

Incident reports

• On June 28, fence parts were reported missing from a Narragansett Avenue address.

• On June 29, a boat at a Conanicus Avenue residence was reported damaged by vandals.

• On July 1, a license plate was reported stolen from a car on Seaview Avenue.

• On July 4, a Diamond Back mountain bike worth $400 was reported missing from a Lawn Avenue residence.
