15-mile kayak race to begin at town beach
The third annual Jamestown Counter Revolution – an open-water rowing and paddling race – will take place on Saturday, Aug. 27, at Mackerel Cove at 8:30 a.m. This year’s race will be an official East Coast Surfski Championship event.
This race pits hundreds of the world’s best rowers on a 15.5-mile trek around Jamestown. Last year’s event was the largest collection of open-water rowers in America. Organizers have partnered with Achilles International Kayak Program to benefit disabled athletes.
Spectators are invited: The race can be seen from Mackerel Cove, Fort Wetherill, East Ferry and Fort Getty.
