Library to hold pair of sign language courses

The Friends of the Jamestown Library will sponsor two free 10-week sign language classes taught by Gemma Guinguing, starting Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m. at the Jamestown Philomenian Library. Sign-ups begin Tuesday, Aug. 9, at the library.

A beginner’s class will run on Tuesday nights from Sept. 6 through Nov. 8 from 7 to 8 p.m. The advanced class will run on Thursday nights from Sept. 8 through Nov. 10 from 7 to 8 p.m.

The prerequisite required for the advanced class is: ability to finger spell and knowledge of 300 words in American Sign Language.

The programs are free and open to the public. Pre-registration is required by calling the library at 423-7280.
