‘Moonlight Magic’ fundraiser tomorrow

The Gilbert Stuart Birthplace and Museum will celebrate its 80th anniversary tomorrow – Friday, Aug. 12 – during its annual gala entitled “Moonlight Magic.”

The event is a vital fundraiser to help offset the cost of the restoration of its fish-ladder dam, protecting an access for the famous Rhode Island buckies to spawn at Carr Pond, and which is monitored each year by the state Department of Environmental Management.

“Moonlight Magic” will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the museum grounds in Saunderstown. Jamestown artist David Schock will act as honorary chairman of the event and his art works will be on display and for sale. The gala will also feature lively music by the Elderly Brothers.

Wine, dinner and desserts will be served. There will also be a silent auction and a quilt raffle. Tickets are $45.

For more information, call the museum at 294-3001.
