Annual talent show tonight at rec center

The Jamestown Community Chorus will hold its 22nd annual talent show tonight – Thursday, Aug. 18 – at 7:30 p.m. at the Jamestown Recreation Center. The talent show is titled “Summer Nights” and is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the chorus. The show features a cast of performers from all over Rhode Island, including solo singers, a husband-and-wife duet, the vocal ensemble Summersong, the Jamestown Community Band, the Kathy Brownell Follies and storyteller Ava White. Janet Grant will provide piano accompaniment. Frank Darigan, the man of many hats, will once again serve as emcee.

Raffle tickets will be on sale in the lobby before the show begins. There are four prizes: gift cards of $200, $150, $100 and $50, redeemable on or off the island. Winners will be drawn at the show.

Homemade refreshments provided by chorus members, as well as lemonade and bottled water, will be on sale during intermission. Tickets will be sold at the door. General admission is $7 and $5 for seniors and children.
