POLICE LOG

Child pornography prohibited

Scott Olsen, 42, of America Way, was charged Aug. 5 with child pornography prohibited. According to police, Olsen was arrested following an investigation of child porn allegations. Olsen was held at the police station and transported to 2nd Division District Court in Newport. No date has been set for a pre-trial.

Possession of marijuana

Sara Quinn, 21, of Stafford Road, Tiverton, was charged Aug. 6 with first-offense possession of marijuana. According to police, a caller reported a suspicious vehicle and it appeared the occupants were inside smoking. Quinn was not held at the police station and was released with summons. An arraignment was scheduled for Aug. 19 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

Vandalism

Two male juveniles, 15 and 16, were charged Aug. 8 with vandalism/ malicious injury to property. According to police, the two were arrested on Hamilton Avenue after a caller reported seeing two young males knocking down street signs. The juveniles were released to their parents.

Driving without license

• Brigit Nihan, 50, of Columbus Avenue, was charged Aug. 9 with driving without license/with expired license. Nihan was not held at the police station and was released with summons. An arraignment was scheduled for Aug. 19 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

• A 16-year-old male juvenile was charged Aug. 12 with driving without a license. According to police, the vehicle ran a stop sign and almost struck a police cruiser. The officer stopped the vehicle and discovered the operator was a juvenile driving without a license. No date has been set for a hearing in front of the Jamestown Juvenile Hearing Board.

Multiple charges

• A 17-year-old male juvenile was charged Aug. 10 with injuring or tampering with property and larceny under $500. According to police, a caller reported a young male subject entering a vehicle and stealing some items. The caller was able to give an accurate description. The juvenile was held at the police station and released to his parents. No date for arraignment has been set.

• John Duggan, 44, of Seaside Drive, was charged Aug. 14 with first-offense DUI, second-offense refusal to take a chemical test and possession of marijuana. According to police, an officer working DUI enforcement detail stopped the vehicle for driving on the wrong side of the road. Duggan was held at the police station. An arraignment was scheduled for Aug. 19 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.

Warrant

Monique Irwin, 27, of Jamestown, was charged Aug. 13 for an arrest warrant from West Warwick Police for obstructing a police offi cer. According to police, the West Warwick Police Department notifi ed the Jamestown Police that they had an arrest warrant for Irwin and Jamestown Police located her at a residence on Beach Avenue. Irwin was held at the police station and turned over to West Warwick Police.

Disorderly conduct

Nathaniel Thompson, 58, of Woodland Drive, Alexandria, Va., was charged Aug. 11 for disorderly conduct for exposing his genitals. According to police, a complainant reported that the suspect exposed himself to him and his family at Beavertail State Park. The police located the suspect a short time later on Freebody Drive.
