Solo performance at arts center tomorrow
“Etudes for an Astronaut,” a 2011 New York Dance and Performance Bessie Award nominee performed by Lance Gries, will come to the Jamestown Arts Center on Friday, Aug. 26, at 8:30 p.m.
“Etudes for an Astronaut” is a solo performance of one man’s search for his place in the universe. It is about big aspirations, poetic attempts and small steps forward. From 1985 to 1992, Gries was a member of the Trisha Brown Dance Company. His work has been honored with a New York Dance and Performance Bessie Award and a Princess Grace Foundation Award.
“Etudes for an Astronaut” was created and premiered at Le Chien Perdu in Brussels, Belgium, in February and has since been performed at Performatica Festival, Puebla Mexico and most recently at La MaMa Experimental Theater in New York City. General admission is $10.
