Fundraiser successful thanks to sponsors
On Aug. 12, we held our fundraiser “Night at the Auction,” and I wanted to thank all of our supporters who helped make this event such a success, especially our event chair Courtney Hunter of Jamestown. The Washington Trust Company was our lead “Taj Mahal Sponsor.” Centreville Bank was a “Lighthouse of Alexandra Sponsor,” and People’s Credit Union and Buckley Heating and Cooling were “Hanging Gardens of Babylon Sponsors.”
Special friends included H & R Block of Wakefield, Marc One Coin Company, Sullivan & Company and Linda D. Tucker and Richard C. Hodgson. Wakefield Liquors and McLaughlin & Moran were beer and wine sponsors. Belmont Market donated our artisan cheese buffet. Dessert Sponsors were Avatar Residential and Patti Cakes of Wakefield. Flair Events & Marketing provided volunteer staff. We even had an anonymous “Guardian Angel Sponsor” of $5,000.
Rhode Island Theater Voices, under the leadership of RM Maitland Productions, provided entertainment. Other donors were Pier Liquors, Del’s of South County, O’Neil’s Package Store, John Thomas Nailor & Cherry Street East of New Canaan, Conn., Narragansett Pest Control, Mumford Services and David Fredrikson.
Volunteers from all over South County obtained auction items from many generous stores and businesses from North Kingstown to Westerly. The 200 guests bid generously and pledged even more funds to keep our agency running.
With this huge community effort, we raised an estimated $80,000 and awareness of domestic violence issues. Together we can change attitudes and behavior.
