Town did a great job preparing for storm

In last week’s front-page article (Sept. 1, 2011: “Islanders clean up after Hurricane Irene”), the compliments by Town Administrator Bruce Keiser to Acting Town Administrator Tina Collins, Acting Police Chief Angela Deneault and Fire Chief Jim Bryer for their excellent preparations prior to the arrival of Tropical Storm Irene were certainly well deserved. I am sure that it was no easy task.

Public Works director Mike Gray, Highway Superintendent Kevin Deacon and all DPW employees should also be complimented. Not only did they work long hours in keeping town roadways open but they also kept state roadways open so that emergency personnel could do their job.

As the Walrus would say, “Kudos to all who kept us safe and sound.”
