Tour of Watson Farm planned for Sept. 25
Historic New England’s Watson Farm will host a special tour on Sunday, Sept. 25, from 2 to 5 p.m., which will include a two-mile walk thought the extensive seaside farm.
Farm Managers Don and Heather Minto will lead the participants on a stroll around the farm and the evolution of the farm itself will be placed in the larger context of the local island community and Rhode Island history. The tour will focus on the land, people and natural resources of Narragansett Bay and the importance of preserving our historic landscapes. Tied closely with this tour and discussion of agriculture will be a dialogue on local food production’s past, present and future.
Watson Farm is located at 455 North Main Road and is owned by the oldest, largest, most comprehensive regional preservation organization in the nation, Historic New England.
The tour begins in the Watson Farm Barnyard. The cost is $8 per person, $3 for Historic New England members. For more information, call 423-0005.
