Christian Cowan, 42, of Melrose Avenue, was charged Sept. 9 with driving with an expired license after being stopped for speeding, according to police. Cowan was not held at the police station and was released with a summons. No court date has been announced.
• Stephanie Collard, 23, of Old Mill Street, Harrisville, was charged Sept. 14 with first-offense DUI and driving with an expired license. According to police, Collard was pulled over after a beon the-lookout alert was issued by Rhode Island State Police for erratic operation of a motor vehicle. Collard was held at the police station and released after arraignment by a justice of the peace. A re-arraignment was scheduled for Sept. 16 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.
• Jamie Layman, 36, of North Main Road, was charged Sept. 18 with a first-offense DUI and refusal to submit to a chemical test. Layman was held at the police station and released after arraignment by a justice of the peace. A re-arraignment was scheduled for Sept. 26 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.
Jordan M. Medeiros, 20, of Rogers Lane, Middletown, was charged Sept. 13 for fraudulent use of a credit card, exploitation of an elderly person, and first-offense possession of marijuana. Medeiros was not held at the police station and was taken to 2nd Division District Court in Newport for arraignment.
