JAC to begin eight-week pottery course tonight

The Jamestown Arts Center will begin an intermediate pottery course on Thursday, Sept. 29, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Students that have mastered basic techniques such as centering and making simple forms on the wheel will build on that experience.

Participants will work to understand functional pottery, the nuances of drinking and pouring vessels, as well as creating utilitarian surfaces for eating and serving. The class also will explore techniques for working larger and for altering wheel thrown forms.

The course will consist of eight sessions. Cost is $200 ($180 for JAC members) plus a $35 fee for materials. The instructor is Charlie Barmonde.
