In 2009 a youngster enjoys the first Hey Day held at the Godena Farm after it was donated to the Conanicut Island Land Trust. The Conanicut Island Land Trust will host its biannual celebration of open space in Jamestown this Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Godena Farm on North Road.

The event is called Hey Day and offers something for islanders of all ages. Take a scenic wagon ride tour of the farm. There will be agricultural talks and demonstrations, a display of antique farm equipment and games for kids. You will also find plenty of food available for a small fee, so bring an appetite. Music will be performed by the Jamestown Community Band and a group of student island fiddlers.

This popular autumn island festival offers an opportunity to explore the Godena Farm, a 26-acre tract which was donated to the land trust several years ago. The land trust has since made a number of improvements to the farm.

Of course the event provides the land trust a stage to spread the word of its worthy mission in Jamestown.

Hey Day is a pleasant way to wile away a few hours. Bring the kids and visit with your island neighbors. See you there!
