Said owner Paul Mika, “Our staff and I were proud to be part of helping Newport Hospital come closer to its goal of upgrading the interventional radiology program.” On Sept. 21, Hyundai of Newport helped raise $10,000 for the expansion of Newport Hospital’s interventional radiology program, a $2 million undertaking.

Radiologists use image-guided technology to perform minimally invasive procedures for diagnostic or for treatment purposes. Friends and staff of Newport Hospital, as well as friends, customers and friends of Hyundai of Newport, contributed funds that were matched by Hyundai of Newport.

Newport Hospital’s Chief Development Officer Lianne Pinheiro explained that the hospital has a challenge grant available to them that will match the contributions on a $1 for $2 basis, netting the hospital $15,000 from the fundraiser.

About 70 guests participated in the event and enjoyed a get-together catered by Russell Morin Fine Catering with music provided by a quartet staffed by musicians from the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Hyundai of Newport got to show off their high-end luxury cars, the Equus and the Genesis, and all the other fine Hyundai vehicles with four models getting 40 mpg.

Lianne Pinheiro said, “Paul Mika, owner of Hyundai of Newport, and his staff provided the right atmosphere for a fundraiser for such a worthy cause”.

Richard Allphin of Jamestown, a volunteer at Newport Hospital, said, “This was a classy and fun event for a great cause.”

“Our staff and I were proud to be part of helping Newport Hospital come closer to its goal of upgrading the interventional radiology program,” said Mika. “It will enhance the already great services Newport Hospital provides to the community”.
