JAC offers yoga classes, daycare for children

Gentle yoga for adults will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 4, from 6 to 7:15 p.m. at the Jamestown Arts Center. The program will be held each Tuesday until Nov. 22. A second option for the program will begin on Friday, Oct. 7, from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. The program will be held each Friday until Nov. 18.

Paired with guided relaxation, this gentle yoga class is designed to open the breath, stretch and strengthen the body, steady the mind and soothe the nervous system. The class will be held in the open space of the JAC performing arts studio with longtime teacher and founder of Innerlight Center for Yoga and Meditation, Kim Chandler.

Those interested should bring a mat. The first session of each series is free and all levels are welcome. Following the first class, the cost is $16 per class or five classes for $70.

An art program for children ages 2 through 5 will begin and be held on each Friday from Oct. 7 to Nov. 18 from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. This class is scheduled to coincide with Friday morning yoga classes so parents have creative childcare while doing yoga.

Children will work with a variety of materials to build, create and explore in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Cost is $15 per session, or $100 for all seven sessions.
