Showing of 1992 film ‘Wind’ tomorrow night
The Conanicut Yacht Club, Jamestown Yacht Club, and Conanicut Island Sailing Foundation will sponsor the showing of the classic film “Wind” (1992) at the Jamestown Philomenian Library on Friday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m.
The movie, filmed in part in Jamestown and Narragansett Bay, tells the story of American sailing teams losing and regaining the America’s Cup.
Bruce Ebke, a sailing member of the cast, will be on hand to give a short talk about the filming of the movie before the film starts. Ebke was one of five Americans to sail in the movie. Two other American “Wind” sailors – Tom Darling and Stewart Silvestri – will also be present.
After “Wind,” Ebke went on to work with Oscar-winning director Carroll Ballard and Brad Pitt on “Legends of the Fall.” He tells his tales of filming the movie with gusto and humor.
Refreshments will be provided courtesy of the Jamestown Yacht Club.
“Wind” is one of the last movies in the yearlong Jamestown and the Silver Screen series. The event is free and open to the public.
