Keith Godena, 47, of Bow Street, was charged Oct. 10 with disorderly conduct, fighting and threatening behavior. According to police, Godena allegedly hit someone on the head with a flashlight. The victim was not willing to press charges, said police. The defendant was held at the police station and a re-arraignment was scheduled for Oct. 14 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.
• On Oct. 10, a woman was bitten by a dog in the stomach on Sloop Street while walking and got too close to the animal. The bite did not break the skin. The canine was quarantined for 10 days.
• On Oct. 10, two bicycle riders were jostling for position in the Jamestown Classic when one ran into a mailbox on North Main Road and destroyed it. An onlooker witnessed the hit-and-run and called the police.
• On Oct. 9, a purse with cash cards and a passport was stolen from Narragansett Café.
• On Oct. 7, the pumpout at East Ferry dock was damaged by vandals. According to police, the wooden planks were broken.
