Red Ribbon Week next week at Lawn Avenue
The annual celebration of Red Ribbon Week will begin on Monday, Oct. 24. Communities and students across America will commit to living drug-free. Red Ribbon Week is the most far-reaching and well-known drug prevention event in America. The National Family Partnership, which coordinates Red Ribbon activities nationally, estimates that over 80 million Americans participate in Red Ribbon events.
Over this week the student assistance counselor, Stephanie Nocon, will promote education and awareness about the importance of living drug-free through activities and a spirit week.
Themes this year are Monday, Oct. 24, Put a Cap on Drugs (hat day); Tuesday, Oct. 25, Drug and Bully Free America (wear red); Wednesday, Oct. 26, Team up Against Drugs (wear your favorite sports team jersey or tee); Thursday, Oct. 27, Don’t let Drugs Ruin your Dreams (wear pajamas or sweats); and Friday, Oct. 28, Show School Spirit (wear school colors).
The last event of the week will be the annual faculty vs. student soccer game on Friday, Oct. 28, at 1:45 p.m.
