Robert L. Johnson
Bob was born in Leominster on Feb. 1, 1944, son of the late Leonard T. and Irene E. (Caisse) Johnson. He attended Leominster schools and graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School in 1963. As a boy, Bob always enjoyed his summers in Jamestown with his family.
His automotive career began with Bob Johnson’s Auto Sales in Fitchburg. Bob later owned and operated
Nissan of Marlboro in Marlborough, Mass., for over 30 years. He also owned Oceanside Nissan in Bourne and was co-owner of Duckmill Auto Body in Fitchburg. He also loved to dabble in real estate. Bob was the recipient of the Nissan Merit Award from the Nissan Motor Corporation of America for several consecutive years, the highest award given to a dealer.
He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce of Marlboro and Men of the One Hundred Club of Framingham. He retired in 1996. Bob was an avid car collector. He enjoyed wintering in Boynton Beach, Fla., and cruising on his yacht, Oceanside, his life-long dream.
He leaves his wife of 30 years, Susan J. (Demers) Johnson; one son, Brent R. Johnson of Lunenburg; two sisters, Martha E. Vinglas and her husband, Velyo, of Virginia, and Phyllis L. Johnson- Bedard of Jamestown, and her daughter, Shari Lynn Johnson- Kamataris and her husband Rick of Leominster; nephews Robert V. Vinglas and his wife Ranae of Tennessee, and Dr. Richard N. Vinglas and his wife Dr. Kebrina Vinglas and their children, Ian and Anika, of Montana. He also leaves his mother-in-law, Noella Demers, wife of the late Maurice Demers who died in 2005; and many cousins and friends.
