JAC to screen two films tonight as part of RIIFF

The Jamestown Arts Center will screen two films as part of the 2011 Rhode Island International Film Festival on Thursday, Nov. 17, beginning at 7 p.m.

The first film will be director Peter Finch’s 86-minute feature documentary, “Blazing the Trail: The O’Kalems in Ireland,” produced and filmed in Ireland and the U.S.

Accompanying the feature film is the 14-minute Australian short film “The Telegram Man,” produced and directed by James Khehtie. Set in a small Australian town in 1942, the film touches on the tragic results of war that far too many families had to deal with during World War II, and the oftoverlooked feelings of those that had to deliver this news. The film was recently nominated for Best Short Fiction Film for the 2012 Australian Film Institute Awards.

There is a $10 ticket donation at the door.
