Thanks to everyone involved with bash

The Bombay Bash was a smash! Over 300 enthusiastic partygoers came out to support the Jamestown Arts Center and experience the sites, sounds and flavors of India. As with all JAC events, it was a huge group effort and we are so grateful to everyone who helped to make it such a success.

First of all, we would like to say a huge thank you to our wonderful co-chairs, Varsha and Ilesh Patel, and Suzanne and Dan O’Donnell, and to our very generous sponsors: Jamestown Fish and the Narragansett CafĂ©, Bridge Technical Solutions, Conanicut Marine, Taste Design, Walker Interiors, Ace’s Pizza, Baker’s Pharmacy, Balance Fitness, BankNewport, East Ferry Deli, Island Realty, Island Rubbish, Janney and Associates, Lila Delman Real Estate, Mansions and Manors, Ocean Essence Spa, Salon Balayage, Christopher Regan Insurance, The Secret Garden, Jamestown Wine & Spirits, and Cathryn Jamieson Salon.

Also, thank you to our inkind donors: Blackstone Caterers, Chopmist Charlie’s, Island Animal, Jamestown Golf Course, Jamestown Wine & Spirits, Cathryn Jamieson Salon, Jamestown Hardware, and Innerlight Yoga. Jeanne Urquhart, we thank you for working tirelessly with our sponsors.

Thank you to Katie Munger for her beautiful poster design and to Cynthia Leonard at Sir Speedy for printing them, and Caroline Weld for posting them. A very big shout out to Rafael Attias and Nikki Juen – aka DJs Riff Raff and Njoy – who spun the Indian beats like pros.

We are so grateful to all the artists who created beautiful exotic boxes for the silent auction: Leslie Banker, Charlie Barmonde, Roger Birn, Leslie Block-Prip, Abby Campbell King, and David and Jen Clancy.

Thanks to Elizabeth Congdon, Elisa Conte, Jocelyn Donaghue, Wooley Dutton, Peter Flood, Martin Keen, John Kotula, Susie Matthews, Diana McCallister, Robin Monihan Yoffa, Janet Prip, Peter Prip, Robin Quigley, Seth Rainville, Luke Randall, Mary Jo Roberts Braisted, Natalie Squillante, Maggie Vale, Casey Weibust, Richard Wessner and Josy Wright, and also to Chris Wyllie for lending his gorgeous Ganesha painting, and to Pat Tuff, Roger Birn and Janet Prip for sharing their stunning photographs of India, which will be on display through Monday, Nov. 28.

Thanks to the cooks for their truly delightful bites: Varsha Patel, Jess Kriss, Derek Jolie, Aron Kielich, Courtney Hunter, Lydia Thomas, Christina Connett and Catherine Bowen Brophy – they cooked up a storm. Thanks to the crew who worked the front door: Suzanne O’Donnell, Sally Schott, Mary Heath Nora Santimore and Carol Baldwin. And we cannot forget our beautiful (and dashing) servers: Roma Patel, Margot Jansen, Sydney Pazera, Hali Chesher, Maey and Islay Petrie, and Yelena and Oli Randall.

Thank you to everyone who helped transform the JAC into a tent fit for a maharajah. Elisa Conte, Victoria Barzin, Diane Harrison, Shahin Barzin, Meg Quijano, Nancy Jo Iacoi, Jerry Pomert, Hutch and Ella Hutchinson, Rob Moorehead, pleasant surprise, Martin and Sydney Keen, Robin Monihan Yoffa and Cindy Heath, and to Andy Hunter and Robin Hollow Farm for sharing their beautiful plants.

Thanks to Karen Gordan and Ellen Anderson from Cathryn Jamieson Salon for spending the evening creating henna tattoos and giving shakra readings to a constant queue of curious guests. And thank you to Sky Sabin for filming the whole thing.

A special thank you goes to Varsha of Jamestown Wine & Spirits, for teaching and sharing so much about her mother country from the delicious food, to the traditions, dancing and art of donning on a sari.

And most importantly thank you to everyone who came to the party, bid on the boxes, danced the night away, and helped us make our fundraising goal. We did it.

Oh, what a night. Bahut Bahut Shukriyaa (thank you very, very much) from the entire Jamestown Arts Center board of directors!
