Panel should not ignore town zoning ordinance
Dear Mr. Swistak,
Any proposal, by any applicant, that requires seven variances to our town’s Zoning Ordinance should not be looked on favorably, regardless of any purported philanthropic benefit that might accrue.
The proposed use is far too intense for the subject property, no less our community. Approval of this proposal will lend credence to the increasing belief that we have lost all sense of proportion as regards to building construction in our village.
Ed. note: The above was a letter addressed to Planning Commission Chairman Michael Swistak on Nov. 16 in reference to Bridges Inc. proposal to build a housing facility that would abut Hammett Court and Clinton Avenue. It was copied to the Jamestown Press.
