Thanks to everyone who helped with JCC concert
The Jamestown Community Chorus wishes to thank everyone who had a hand in the huge success of our soldout concert – “Favorite Choruses from Handel’s Messiah with Festival Orchestra and English Carols” – which took place Dec. 11 at the Jamestown Recreation Center.
Our deep and heartfelt gratitude go out to so many, including Jane Murray and the musicians in the orchestra that accompanied us; all who bought tickets and attended the performance; all who advertised in our concert program; all who displayed our flyers; Jamestown Hardware, Baker’s Pharmacy, and The Secret Garden for selling advance tickets; the Jamestown Press for keeping us in the public eye throughout the season, and for sending reporter Margo Sullivan and photographer Jeff Mc- Donough to our dress rehearsal; Jim Munro, aka the Walrus, for features on the chorus; Sav Rebecchi for creating a video of the event for the Jamestown Record; the Jamestown Philomenian Library for allowing extended checkout on copies of the “Messiah” score; the Newport Daily News for printing photos; WCRI Radio and Mike Maino for conducting an interview and advertising the concert; and NBC10 for our Coffee Cup Salute.
Further thanks go to those who:
Loaned us chairs: Rev. Kathryn Palen at Central Baptist Church, Louis Kitts of the Jamestown School Department, and Barry at the Conanicut Yacht Club.
Transported chairs and risers: Jim Perry, Don Haskell, Mike Smith and William Smith.
Kept us safe: Lt. Angela Denault of the Jamestown Police, who provided a detail to keep traffic flowing, Chief Howie Tighe of the Jamestown Fire Department, and Fire Marshall Evan Katz.
Provided space: The Central Baptist Church, where we rehearse; and Jill Goldstein of the Jamestown Recreation Department, who accommodated our needs within the ongoing recreation department schedule.
Helped with staging and lights: Durga Larkin and the Jamestown Community Theater, and especially Jim Rafferty, who put us on his calendar for setup and strike before we even finished asking.
Board members Ellie Chase, Agnes Filkins and Ann Seeman helped on concert day with tickets, reservations, programs and house management; Tim Yentsch; Teresa Murray; Jenn Dasmalchi and twins Sophie and Ryan; Mary Berthelot; and Ingela Williamson.
This concert was a great experience for the chorus and we appreciate the help and participation of everyone who made it possible.
