AMPT raises $675 for R.I. children’s hospital

The Jamestown Teen Center’s leadership group – Adolescences Making Programs for Teens – led a fundraiser for the kids in Hasbro Children Hospital over the holidays.

AMPT put out donation containers at local businesses to collect money for gifts. Also, teens made themselves available on Saturdays in December for a gift-wrapping service at the recreation center. In addition, AMPT held a 3-on- 3 basketball tournament on Dec. 17, and the entry fees also went to their fundraising effort.

The teens raised $675, exceeding their fundraising goal of $500. The fundraising stopped at 6 p.m. on Dec. 22 so that AMPT could shop for gifts for the children at Hasbro. Hasbro could only accept donations in the form of new and unwrapped toddler board books, CDs and DVDs, iPODs, Sesame Street games and toys, arts and crafts kits, New England sports team clothing, and gift certificates to Showcase Cinemas, Barnes and Noble, Old Navy, Sports Authority, Walmart, Target, Bath & Body Works, Toys “R” Us, IMAX and Dick’s Sporting Goods.
