Islander contributes to ‘Chicken Soup’ book

Jamestown resident Rita Lussier recently had a story published in “Chicken Soup for the Soul: Find Your Happiness.” The book, which was released in 2011, is a collection of more than 100 “inspirational stories about finding your purpose, passion and joy.”

Lussier’s story is titled “Life Lesson from the Lab.” The threepage article is about her black lab Lizzie, and how there is “nothing like a dog to remind me that in this complex world we really need to stay in touch with a simpler existence.”

As Deborah Norville points out in her foreword of the book, “Research has found being happy adds about nine years to your life.” Her recipe for happiness includes counting your blessings, pursuing your passions, learning, finding meaning in your activities, and finding quiet times to reflect and to enjoy all the little things. As she says, “After you read these stories, you’ll be much better equipped to find the path – and the destination – that’s right for you.”

Since 1993, books in the “Chicken Soup for the Soul” series have sold over 112 million copies, with titles translated into over 40 languages.
