Burgin Lambert Architects won a Merit Award for Design Excellence from the Rhode Island chapter of the American Institute of Architects at their annual design competition and awards ceremony on Dec. 1. The award stemmed from the work on the new Watch Hill Yacht Club. Jamestowner Bill Burgin is one of the principals for the firm, which is located in Newport. Burgin Lambert Architects won the award in the Adaptive Reuse category for their ingenuity and craftsmanship in bringing a contemporary but contextual aesthetic to the neighborhood and harbor front of the historic Watch Hill area of Westerly. The firm also received recognition from Builder Magazine and the National Association of Home Builders for the same project.
