Plein air paintings are on display at library

An exhibit of plein air paintings of Jamestown will be on display at the Jamestown Philomenian Library through Feb. 14. The workshop, lead by Evelyn Rhodes, met at island locations during the warmer weeks of 2011.

Island artists Emily Boenning, Katie Grimes, Eleanor Gravdahl, Amy Friedman, Judy Knight, Joan McCauley and Betty Purdum are represented with watercolors, oils and pastels. Island scenes of Divers’ Cove, Foxhill Farm, Fort Getty and the Jamestown Community Farm are some of the subjects.

The exhibit is open to the public during regular library hours and is sponsored by the Conanicut Island Art Association.
