Republican signatures needed on Saturday

Republican Town Committee Chairperson Amy Gallagher will collect signatures at McQuade’s Marketplace and the Conanicut Marine Ship’s Store & Chandlery on Saturday, Jan. 28, from 9 a.m. to noon so that GOP candidates will be listed on the 2012 presidentia primary ballots. The primary in Rhode Island is set for April 24, and because of changes in state law passed in 2011, there are currently no GOP candidates on the ballots. To combat this, the Rhode Island GOP and Republican town committees across the state will set out to collect 1,000 valid signatures for the remaining presidential candidates. Jamestown voters will be asked to sign for all remaining presidential candidates so that all are represented on the ballot. To sign, individuals must be registered to vote in Jamestown. For more information, call Gallagher at 225-3481.
