JAC will sponsor outdoor-photography course

The Jamestown Arts Center will sponsor a course on photographing Beavertail in the winter with photographer Ross Harris. Students will learn how to handle environmental extremes, such a snow and strong winds, and how to handle a camera in cold weather. Interested participants will meet at the center for light refreshments on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 8 a.m. From there the group will head out to Beavertail together. A second session – on Feb. 18, from 9 a.m. to noon – will be held indoors for students to look at the pictures and discuss them. Participants should be familiar with the operation of their cameras, including setting ISO, choosing shutter/ aperture combination, and adjusting exposure for a lighter or darker image. Having an image-editing program on their computers is desirable, and they should know how to email images to the instructor. Cost is $95 and for anyone 13 years of age and older. For more information, call Lisa Randall at 560- 0979.
