Tibetan monk to speak at library Saturday
Lama Pema Wangdak, a Tibetan teacher who won the 2009 Ellis Island Medal of Honor for his worldwide humanitarian work, will speak at the Jamestown Philomenian Library on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 4 p.m.
Wangdak has been a monk since he was 7 years old, and came to the United States in 1982. He is the creator of bur yig – Tibetan braille. He has lived in New York City for the last 30 years working on a project to help thousands of poor Tibetan refugees suffering from medical conditions.
He will also address the subject of Dharma, the spiritual path that humans choose to follow, both from a Buddhist perspective and from a universal standpoint.
