William Cregan, 30, of Howland Avenue, was charged Jan. 24 with fraudulent use of a credit card. According to police, a credit card was stolen from a Jamestown resident’s vehicle parked in their driveway overnight on Jan. 9. The card was used at a local liquor store, and security footage allegedly identified Cregan as the person using the stolen credit card. The following day, Jan. 25, Cregan was charged with larceny under $500 and tampering with a motor vehicle in a separate incident. According to police, a search warrant was obtained for a cell phone seized from Cregan stemming from his Jan. 24 arrest. Information on the cell phone resulted in police locating at a pawnshop in Newport property stolen from the resident’s vehicle. Police say the stolen property was not related to the victim from Cregan’s previous arrest.
