10 students will have art displayed in museum
March is National Youth Art Month across the United States and the Rhode Island Art Education Association sponsors and organizes exhibits of student artwork across the state during the month. The Newport Art Museum’s Coleman Art Center holds an exhibit of student artwork from school districts in the area, which includes Jamestown. Each district can select up to 10 pieces for the exhibit.
This year Charles Schaupp, Cameron Tuttle, Riley Sprague, Kyle Takata, Emma Lazzara, Anaclaire Tamboe, Colette Fortenberry, Connor Froberg, Andrew Corsi and Gabrielle Piosson were chosen from Jamestown. The student’s work will be on display through April 2. An opening reception will be held at the Coleman Art Center from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 8.
There will also be an exhibit of 65 pieces of artwork created by Melrose Avenue School students under the instruction of Jan Kraus at the Jamestown Philomenian Library through the end of the month of March.
