Deadline tomorrow for conservation program

The Farm Service Agency announced that the opportunity for landowners to enroll in the Conservation Reserve Program ends on Friday, April 6. Producers who want to offer eligible land for the program’s competitive general sign-up may enroll at the agency’s county office where their farm records are maintained.

The Conservation Reserve Program is a voluntary program that assists farmers, ranchers and other agricultural producers to protect their environmentally sensitive land.

“I can’t stress enough the need to act now rather than wait until the deadline date so that our staff can provide the much-deserved individual attention to all producers interested in the program,” said Paul Brule, executive director for Rhode Island.
