Christopher Finn, 25, of Morton Avenue, Newport, was charged March 30 for first-offense possession of marijuana. According to police, the defendant turned himself into police after a warrant was issued. Finn was held at the police station and then transported directly to 2nd Division District Court in Newport for an arraignment.
Wayne Lohmann, 41, of Spring Street, Newport, was charged March 30 for first-offense DUI, first-offense possession of marijuana, and possession of a schedule I, II, III, IV or V narcotic. According to police, officers responded to a motor-vehicle accident just before the toll plaza. The defendant allegedly caused the accident and police say he showed signs of intoxication. He was arrested after failing a field sobriety test. Police say that the narcotics were located after a vehicle search following the arrest. Lohmann was held at the police station and then transported to the ACI as a probation violator. A re-arraignment was scheduled for April 2 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.
