Volunteers needed for Earth Day cleanup
The Conservation Commission has scheduled its annual Earth Day shoreline cleanup for Saturday, April 21. Anyone interested in helping clean the island’s shorelines should meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Jamestown Recreation Center.
Participants will be broken up into teams and scattered around the island to 12 access points, including shorelines at Fort Getty, East Ferry, West Ferry and Mackerel Cove.
Slice of Heaven will provide a continental breakfast prior to the cleanup and Conanicut Island Land Trust will provide food after completion for all participants. Island Rubbish will provide the trash removal.
