Wear purple in honor of military children

In celebration of the Month of the Military Child, many states including Rhode Island will participate in the Purple Up campaign. The Jamestown School Department encourages all islanders to wear purple on Friday, April 13, as a visible way to show support for the military children in our community.

Purple is the color that symbolizes all branches of the military, as it is the combination of Army green, Coast Guard blue, Air Force blue, Marine red and Navy blue. Military children often have parents deployed overseas and move many times in their young lives.
