Island school receives $1,000 from Bob’s

Bob’s Discount Furniture announced on May 1 that it would donate funds to seven schools in Rhode Island in support of arts and education programs, including Jamestown. These funds were made possible by customer donations to collection jars located in the cafés found in every Bob’s store.

Each of these Rhode Island schools will receive $1,000 checks in May. Along with the Jamestown, also received checks will be Coggeshall Elementary School in Newport, Winman Junior High School in Warwick, Westerly Middle School, Richmond Elementary School, North Providence High School and West Kingston Elementary School.

“Our monthly school donations are a great way for us to show our appreciation to the communities that support our stores,” said Cathy Poulin, public relations director for Bob’s Discount Furniture. “We hope the funds will help these Rhode Island schools add to education and arts programs for their students.”

Every month, Bob’s randomly selects seven schools in the communities near its stores and makes a donation of $1,000. This month, Bob’s is supporting education and arts programs in Rhode Island with the cash awards. Some of the past recipients have used the donations for such things as purchasing new art and classroom supplies, funding student activity groups and going on field trips.
