The Rocket ’Hogs had some explosive news this week with the announcement that this summer’s fireworks display will be held on Saturday, July 7, at East Ferry.

Rocket ’Hog Bob Bailey said the fireworks will be moved from Mackerel Cove to East Ferry due to overwhelming demand. The fireworks will be launched from a barge at the entrance to the East Ferry channel. “This should provide a great viewing area from the yacht club to the Dumplings,” he said.

The fireworks are slated to begin at 9 p.m. The Jamestown Community Band will perform that evening. Also scheduled to play is the group Ryan Hartt and the Blue Hearts.

“People will be able to make an evening out of it,” Bailey said. “They can go out to dinner beforehand and then walk down the street and see the fireworks.”

The Rocket ’Hogs would like to remind all Jamestowners that if they send in money, the ’Hogs will blow it up. Send all donations to the Rocket ’Hogs, P.O. Box 1776, Jamestown, RI 02835.
