Sheep-shearing day at Watson Farm Saturday

Sheep-shearing day will be held at Historic New England’s Watson Farm on Saturday, May 12, from noon to 4 p.m. Shearing will take place continuously over the five hours as expert shearers remove the wool from the farm flock.

Spinners and weavers will be on hand to demonstrate how wool is made into yarn and cloth. Visitors are welcome to hike the scenic farm trails, which run along Narragansett Bay.

Guests may also visit with the herd of Red Devon cattle and see their newborn calves. Cost is $10 per car. There will be pizza and baked goods for sale. For more information, call Heather Minto at 423-0005.
