Help Jamestowner win contest by voting online

Kelly Grennan Smith, an islander who teaches seventh-grade science at Cole Middle School in East Greenwich, is trying to win a scholarship to attend a technology conference this summer in San Diego. The conference is sponsored by the International Society for Technology in Education.

The top two vote getters will win the grant that will help them attend the conference. Currently, Grennan Smith is in a first-place tie with a teacher from Texas. Grennan Smith said that a vote can be cast from each email address, so, for example, a person with two email addresses can vote twice.

“A student today compared my request to how Justin Bieber went viral on YouTube,” said Grennan Smith. “That’s right, I’m the next big hit.”
