Marion McClellan Prehn
Clellan Prehn, a longtime summer resident of Jamestown, passed away on May 12, 2012. Born July 17, 1922, in Mount Vernon, N.Y., Marion was the daughter of the late Pelham L. and Laura C. Mc- Clellan.
Marion grew up in Harrison, N.Y., and graduated with a business degree from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. She married Richard A. Perkins in December 1945 and they eventually settled in Pelham Manor, N.Y., raising four children. Marion was active in the community serving as president of the Girl Scout Council, and was a member of the Manor Club and the International Garden Club. After the death of her husband in 1965, Marion focused her life on supporting her children and remained a widow until she married William F. Prehn in 1979. Marion had a lifelong interest in business, and following the stock market was a passion right up until her final days. She adored her 10 grandsons, encouraging and supporting them in all their endeavors, as she had done for her own children.
Marion maintained homes in Jamestown and Naples, Fla. She was a former member of the Conanicut
Yacht Club in Jamestown and the League Club in Naples.
Marion is survived by a son, Richard A. Perkins Jr. (Lynn Perkins) of New York, N.Y., and two daughters, Candace P. Longley (Bill Longley) of Atlanta, Ga., and Kimberly P. Westcott (Jeff Westcott) of Darien, Conn.; 10 grandsons, Lindsey G. Vaughan (Heidi Vaughan), Christopher A. Vaughan (Christa Vaughan), Stuart H. Longley, Reid M. Longley, James M. Longley, Jeffrey B. Westcott Jr., Timothy P. Westcott, R. Nicholas Perkins, Alexander V. Perkins and Clayton A. Perkins; and five great-grandchildren, Zachary, Chase, Reagan, Gabriella and Charlotte Vaughan. She was predeceased by her husband William, her brother Pelham L. Mc- Clellan Jr., and her beloved daughter Pamela P. Vaughan.
Marion was a strong woman, greatly admired, who will be deeply missed by all her family. Services will be private.
