Money is needed to keep fireworks alive

Earlier this year our friend Jim Munro passed away. It was a huge loss for his family and for Jamestown. Over the years, I had the pleasure of working with Jim on a number of pursuits, not the least of which was the Jamestown fireworks committee, otherwise known as the Rocket Dawgz.

The five of us started the fireworks from nothing and kept it going for 12 years. While the other Dawgz helped to set up the show, Jim and I would collect money at the various sites over the years until he became known to us as “the boss of the beach.”

Jim was never shy about asking people to support the fireworks and so, in his memory, I challenge you to send your donation to the Rocket ’Hogs for their fireworks show this year. I have sent in our donation in Jim’s memory and would ask all who revel in celebrating our country’s independence and love “the rocket’s red glare” to do the same. The ’Hogs, just like the Dawgz, enjoy blowing up your money. The address is P.O. Box 1776, Jamestown, RI 02835. Rock on, ’Hogs!
