Wakefield DMV closed on Fridays

Gov. Lincoln Chafee recently announced that the state Department of Motor Vehicles will return to a four-day schedule in its Wakefield branch, effective immediately. The DMV Wakefield office, located inside the Stedman Government Center, will now be open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and will be closed on Fridays. The new schedule allows the DMV to better staff and maintain services at its branches throughout the state including Middletown and the new location in Westerly Town Hall.

South County customers may continue to transact business at the DMV’s other locations, which will continue to operate with existing hours.

The DMV Wakefield branch operated two days a week when it first opened and hours were extended to four days in July 2010 to accommodate the closing of the Rhode Island Mall branch. DMV Wakefield expanded to five days per week when its Middletown branch was temporarily closed.
