JCT announces November production
The Jamestown Community Theatre recently announced that its November production will be “Once Upon a Mattress.” This hilarious show, with music by Mary Rodgers and lyrics by Marshall Barer, entertains audiences with a far-fetched musical spin on Hans Christian Anderson’s “Princess and the Pea.”
Originally starring Carol Burnett, “Once Upon a Mattress” is a musical with a cast full of adults, teens and children. According to theatre Director Mary Wright, the audience will find it difficult to keep a straight face once the amusement begins.
A welcomed sabbatical for Wright, Julie Beth Andrews will return to the theatre to direct the show. Lisa Rafferty and Kellie Toland will be co-producers. Walter Sage will assist Andrews with the musical direction. He will also accompany the actors on the piano
Performances will be on the second and third weekend in November. Auditions will be held on Aug. 19. There will be more information in the Jamestown Press in July regarding audition requirements.
For those who would like to audition but will be away, email Andrews at songbird104@hot mail.com by July 20 to schedule an audition. Those who would like to help in production or behind the scenes should email Rafferty at firstname.lastname@example.org.
