IYRS annual Summer Gala planned for July 7

Gala-goers heading to the International Yacht Restoration School’s annual Summer Gala on July 7 will help celebrate the rise of IYRS over the past 15 years, from a small school with a handful of students to a central player in the region’s workforce development.

Together with the school, event co-chairs Jamie Hilton of Newport and Pam Rorke Levy of San Francisco have orchestrated an evening that will track IYRS milestones and give attendees a deeper understanding of the school’s mission. For the first time, gala-goers will see a showcase of the fine craftsmanship produced by IYRS students and a series of microexhibits that document the school’s achievements. In a film produced for the evening by Levy, attendees will also hear directly from students, alumni and faculty about the school’s education and how it helps individuals change the course of their lives.

A highlight of the gala will again be the live and silent auctions. Among the auction items are an opportunity to cruise to the Galapagos islands; a stay in an oceanside villa in St. Barths while crewing aboard a megayacht in the St. Barths Bucket regatta; a Mediterranean cruise from Palma onboard the 96-foot luxury performance sailboat Scorpione Dei Mari; a stay on a private Caribbean island; and opportunities to cruise onboard extraordinary yachts, such as the 85- foot Trumpy Enticer.
