Woody Vera, 34, of Travis Avenue, Stamford, Conn., was charged June 20 with driving with a suspended license. According to police, Vera was stopped on North Main Road for speeding when the officer realized that his license had been revoked. The defendant was released with a summons. An arraignment was scheduled for June 29 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.
Timothy Bullock, 22, of Central Street, Sommerville, Mass., was charged June 24 with driving with an expired license. The defendant was released with a summons. An arraignment was scheduled for July 6 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.
William Cregan, 30, of Howland Avenue, Jamestown, was charged June 21 for larceny, tampering with a motor vehicle, and possession of two controlled substances. According to police, an arrest warrant was issued after an investigation into the thefts from unlocked cars in town led police to discover stolen property sold to a pawnshop in Newport. When police arrested Cregan at East Ferry, he was allegedly in possession of two different controlled substances. The defendant was held at the police station and transported to the ACI as a probation violator. A probationviolation hearing was scheduled for July 3 at 2nd Division District Court in Newport.
