Fundraiser July 21 to help support local animal shelter

On Saturday, July 21, the Friends of the North Kingstown Animal Shelter will hold its semiannual Stop & Shop fundraiser at the supermarket on Frenchtown Road from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The North Kingstown shelter supports lost, injured and stray animals from North Kingstown and Jamestown.

Organizers ask that people come down to learn more about their local shelter. Dry cat food, treats for dogs and monetary donations will be accepted.

The Friends of the North Kingstown Animals Shelter is a nonprofit organization that helps resident animals. They also assist North Kingstown and Jamestown elderly pet owners, and residents who are having a hard time fi- nancially with their pet’s medical emergencies. Its mission is to provide a healthy, safe and caring environment for each animal and ultimately place them in “forever homes.”

Donations raised this year will be used to spay and neuter pets, improve the shelter, provide the pets with more comfort in extreme weather conditions, and enhance playtime with indoor and outdoor toys.
